I love to read all genres but my favorites is 19th century British Literature.

The Tenant of Wildfell Hall

The Tenant of Wildfell Hall - Anne Brontë After also recently reading 'Agnes Grey' recently, I desperately wanted to read 'Tenant'. I'm so glad that I did. This was an incredible story that touches on so many issues that are relevant now. Bad marriage, abuse, violence, debauchery, jealousy, infidelity. I found myself sympathizing for Helen and the story of the decline of her marriage and her decision to escape with her child was such an amazing read. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has read 'Jane Eyre' and/or 'Wuthering Heights' and wanted more Bronte. I am waiting to delve into 'Villette' next and just can't wait.

Far from the Madding Crowd

Far from the Madding Crowd - I had never heard of this book before and had never read anything by Thomas Hardy before and I have to say that I was so sucked into this story. I can't wait to read 'Tess' and 'Jude' next! This is not your typical love story. Bathsheba is so not faded by all the men that fall at her feet and I love that about her. Mr. Oak is such a 'in the shadows' kind of hero in the way he's constant in his feelings for her and is always there when she truly needs him. Loved the story! Definitely want more Thomas Hardy reading now!

The Thirteenth Tale: A Novel (No Series)

The Thirteenth Tale - Diane Setterfield I absolutely adore this book. It's every book lovers dream. If you have been a long time lover of all books, especially the gothic classics, you'll love this! It has everything a good gothic novel should have...death, twins, sex, intrigue and enough mystery and guessing to have you back to read it again. I will definitely read this again to pick up things I might have missed and I am very excited for her second novel.

Rebecca (Virago Modern Classics)

Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier, Sally Beauman I was lended this book by a fellow lover of 'Jane Eyre' and have always heard talk of the similarities. There were many similarities but I did enjoy the story of the narrator and Mr. de Winter and really enjoyed the ending. I'm very anxious to see the Hitchcock version now. Loved it!

Persuasion

Persuasion - I was pleasantly surprised by Persuasion. I really loved the interaction between Anne and Captain Wentworth. I am quick becoming a lover of Jane Austen. I've always been a Bronte girl but Im learning to appreciate Austen as well.

Jane Eyre (Penguin Classics)

Jane Eyre - Michael Mason, Charlotte Brontë A simple review would not even do Jane Eyre justice. I am so captivated by the story. Mr. Rochester is the perfect conflicted man and Jane Eyre is the sensible level-headed woman who respects herself by fleeing her love to escape living a life of sin, when she discovers he has been married to a lunatic he keeps hidden in the attic. I loved the novel, I love all the adaptations. Wuthering Heights has been my favorite since I was a child but Jane Eyre is quickly winning me over.
